Virus Protection

Hi...

My nephew is a college student and needs to put virus protection on his PC. He asked for my advice. My problem is I use Mac so I don't mess with any Virus protectors. For you PC experts out there, which one would you suggest that is:

1) Cheap...he is a college student. Free would be great.
2) Easy...not a computer expert.
3) Won't gunk up and slow his computer down.

Any suggestions would be great. I know there is more economical solutions out there other than Norton and McAfee.

Malwarebytes and Spybot search and destroy are both free and have been excellent to me. In fact, they pretty much saved my computer when McAfee could not.

Edit: I also recommend switching away from Internet Explorer to a different browser program. IE seems to have more problems than other browsers when it comes to virus.

Any all-in-one protection programs that will protect his email and sit on the computer like Norton does?

Avast! and AVG are pretty good and scan your emails as well.

Avast! is much more user friendly.

I 2nd AVG. It works a lot better than the Norton I paid for.
