Vince Young and 3-4 Defenses...

would someone please shoot Gut an email?

 

we only played against five 3-4 defenses last year, four of which were in the first four weeks. it's a little hard to say how well VY would play against a 3-4 defense this year, but i think it's safe to say that since he played very little against them and then had his first start against the cowboys his numbers would not look very good.

 

Doesn't really matter in my opinion, Manning sucks against the 3-4 and look what he's become.

 

It makes sense that a 3-4 would be tougher on a running QB like Young because you have an extra LB standing up reading the play and you have a little more speed on the field. The answer to the 3-4 is to be physical enough in the run game because of their smaller front 7. Also against VY I'd always send the LOLB up field to contain the edge. If you do that in a 4-3 you end up rushing 5 guys which leaves one less player to play against the pass. With VY the main issue wouldn't be to try and sack him but contain him (which isn't easy) and the 3-4 is a better defense for that.

 

not really, that is an option, but the rbs in the league say that it is harder to run against the 3-4 because u dont kno where that 4th guy is comming from... its not like u cant pass against the 3-4 but it will cut down on a lot of the shorter stuff

 

I think 3 or 4 defenses could stop VY

 

I dont think VYs played against them enough for us to determine if theyre gonna stop him

I mean there was Dallas, but that was hs 1st start want it???
