Now they are saying it was because he was too slow on approach. They also said he had only 43 hours on the 777. Which may sound like a lot but those are typically used for long flights right? 43 hours could be as few as 3 or 4 flights.

no not likely, 43 hours is still very low but a typically long flight is probably around 8-9 hours in most cases. It does depend on where you are going, but he likely had 3-4 more pilots on that aircraft so experience should not have been an issue. Another pilot should have told him to pull off.

If I was at work I'd pull up one of our longer routes.

    I have been on a 777 that was a 16 hour flight once o_O

Apparently they did try to abort but that was too late. 1 second later they crashed.

ok, so ICN to SFO is typically around 11 1/2 hours non stop, I don't know if Asiana does non stop though, but 11 1/2 hours requires 4 pilots per the FAA. They probably had two captains if not 3 and since the guy they are pinning it on was in OJT, one was more than likely a check airman/instructor.

Yeah, video did not display as well as I had hoped. Try checking this link:

Ah, it was probably just the media latching onto something without having a proper understanding of how air regulations work.
