Titans defensive coordinator Jerry Gray seemed to leave open the possibility last week that the team could potentially alternate starting cornerbacks – switching back and forth between Alterraun Verner and Tommie Campbell depending on the match-up.

But Titans coach Mike Munchak downplayed the chances of that happening following Verner’s strong showing in Sunday’s win over Pittsburgh. Verner picked off one pass, knocked away another and allowed only two receptions on the five times the Steelers targeted him, according to Pro Football Focus.

“That’s not something (that’s likely),” Munchak said of alternating starters. “You’re always open to, `Hey, maybe this week we’ll do this.’ But (Verner) had a great practice week. He picked off quite a few balls … I think the last two or three weeks he’s played very well.”

I was really pleased by the entire secondary! I also think Fokou cemented his starting spot. He played well and was heads up in the endzone on the first turnover.

I was very pleased with Verner but not surprised. I was very surprised by McCourty though. He's always had the athleticism, but his awareness this past game is what surprised me. He looked like a playmaker.

It'll be interesting to see how they both do against AJ next week.
