you dont like the thought of a new set up where another colored flag denotes who the flag is on?

Don't see the value of adding a flag.
    Not really.

This idea is absolutely retarded. I really can't believe you thought this was good jcbrave.

Take this situation for instance. The Titans are at home they throw a TD pass in the end zone. Both the WR and CB battle for the ball and a flag comes out from 2 refs that saw the play. One sees PI on the O and one sees PI on the D. 1 black flag and 1 yellow flag are thrown ... Now the fans are more confused than ever. After a quick huddle, the refs decide to pick up the black flag, and actually penalize the offense for PI.

Fans would normally be pissed in this situation, but if you make it known that 1 ref saw the play in the Home teams favor, but they still enforce the other penalty (even if it is the correct call) the Home team is going to feel cheated and furious.

Not good when fans already complain about being cheated by the refs anyway.

I would much rather the refs discuss the penalty and then make the announcement after they get all the info, than see a bunch of different colored flags come out confusing everyone.

Plus, in most situations the refs give a preliminary call before making the announcement anyway.

this happens all the time anyways, it wouldn't matter to see two colored flags vs multiple yellow flags

refs consonantly pickup flags when no fouls were committed. Its already confusing how it is

And that's not true that they would offset. Most of the time in this situation they would discuss and see who had the better angle, and then call the penalty on that player.

Offsetting penalties typically occurs when 2 completely separate fouls occur.

But if multiple yellow flags are thrown, then the refs can huddle before they make the call. The fans would never know that 1 ref threw the flag on the O an the other threw it on the D

Throwing multiple colored flags sets the refs up for embarrassment and angry fans

Offsetting penalties – Penalties by players on offense and defense on the same play that cancel out. Results in a repeated down with same distance to go.
