Anybody hear Mike Mayock on Ogletree?

Mayock: 'Scared to death' of LB Alec Ogletree
    [IMG]
NFL Network's Mike Mayock says he is "scared to death" of Georgia LB Alec Ogletree as a first-round pick due both to off- and on-field concerns.
Ogletree is a candidate to slide out of the first round because his character is a nightmare. "I’m scared to death about Ogletree, both for on- and off-the-field issues," Mayock said. "When you put the tape on, he has no clue what he’s doing. He looks like a safety that somebody plugged inside at inside linebacker. He just runs around." Mayock also called Ogletree's work ethic and passion for the game "question marks right now."

Ever hear of Odell Thurman? Georgia seems to be good at producing MLBs with character issues.

The positions I don't want are DE, RB, or QB in the 1st.

I think our most value would come at OG, DT, CB, or S if we can find an instant playmaker.

QB and RB I can understand. But why don't you want DE? If Jordan or Ansah are there I'd say that's a really good value at 10 and they could be instant playmakers just as well as the rest of them.

I think you're wrong... 6'8 315 DE? That's crazy, but I guess people said that about Kevin Carter as well.

Who's grade is that? NFL.com i'm assuming... is that grade strictly measurables? If so I could see that.

He's a body catcher, terrible route runner, and has too many drops. He also shys away from phyiscal play. He's scary when he gets the ball though... question is, can he get seperation vs NFL defenses?

While this may be true it is not the only evaluation tool used by FO and scouts. So we have no idea where he ranks among the other prospects on our draft board.

He has rare size, speed, and explosion that will let him separate but those aren't the whole picture when it comes to production. How well can he grasp the play book, how much time will he put into getting better and refining his routes because the natural athleticism is not in question its the other intangibles.

DE's are always a gamble and we're solid right now at the spot IMO. Morgan and Wimbley both played well last season and we've brought in some rotational guys to help them carry the load. It's not an area of need IMO. It's a luxury position. Would be nice to have another DE, but not neccessary.

I guess your argument could be made for DE with my justification for DT. But I think DT and CB are bigger needs than DE.
