Ah, the true problem with Rush is they are False-Rock. Along with ELP and and Yes an originator or the worst kind of music, Math-Rock. Geddy Lee should be bannished from the lands, never to return. :grrhee: :))

Rock can exceed 3 chords and doesn't necessarily have to be created in a garage. Evolve brother ;)

I wish Rush no ill will, but I believe they stopped being a rock band at "Signals".

That's the last Rush album I bought. Personally I wasn't too crazy about it. I think they probably could have exited after "Exit Stage Left".

    Math rock?

Go to youtube and watch some videos of yes if you think that. John anderson's controlled vocals can sound a bit mechanical but nobody can say steve howe's guitar is. I would put yes closer to jazz fusion than classical and just because the compositions are well structured and the musicianship virtuoso it doesn't mean they are less passionate about their music than some group that can't play.

That was the problem with punk they couldn't play worth crap as if that's a virtue or something. And i'm sorry but listening to middle class white boys from england or the US crying about how rotton the world is sounds hollow to me. I also don't appreciate bipolar music from miserable people. See john lennon..

Another thing that happened is that some groups like yes were called "fag rock" by some people who were listening to stuff like the stones and the who. Both bands fronted by bisexuals. Hell peter townsend likes little boys!

To me the problem has always been more a matter of style in terms of dress, hair etc more than the music. Grunge was a punk like reaction to mindless hair bands from the 80s wasn't it? Hair bands in the 80s were the new glam except glam musicians were good and those hair bands totally sucked..
