When I was in law school, I was an intern at the state attorneys office.

So I’m prosecuting this chick for simple possession of a dime bag of weed. The intern on the other side of the case was a classmate and good friend of mine. She threatened to file a motion of hypocrisy against me because she and I smoked all the time.

Anyway, first the girl alleges it wasn’t weed. I’ll grant it was pretty sh!tty ditch weed, but it was weed. But, I had to call a state chemist as a witness to prove it was in fact weed.

Then she changes her story last minute and says someone must have put it in her pocket.

I did a whole closing argument lambasting people who constantly put illegal drugs in my pocket. It’s the first thing I do when I get home, empty my pockets of illegal drugs into the bin by the door, etc. the judge laughed as he ruled in my favor.

Same defense intern had some kids get caught throwing crack out the window of a parked car. Her clients took her to their neighborhood and showed her crack they had planted all over the place. Said it was common to find crack on the ground.

She actually argued that dumb **** in court. We called it “the big crack rock candy mountain defense.”

After doing jury duty several years ago, I called an old college friend who was a public defender in Philadelphia at the time. She called what you are referring to as the "SODDI" defense, meaning "Some Other Dude Did It".
