I was scared after that 1st FG. But that game winner was right down the center ... Rob Bironas is still CLUTCH!!!!!
It was a shaky start for Titans kicker Rob Bironas. In the end, he left LP Field shaking. Bironas made the game-winning field goal – a 40-yarder as time expired – to give the Titans a 26-23 win on Thursday night against the Steelers. Bironas was a perfect 4-of-4 on the night, but his first one wasn’t exactly a thing of beauty – his 22-yarder bounced off the right upright, but went over the crossbar. “As long as it goes through, it’s worth three,’’ Bironas said with a smile, recalling his first kick of the night. “It wasn’t supposed to do that… But it went through and we needed those.” No one was complaining at the end, of course. Bironas made kicks of 22, 38, 47 and 40 yards. His 47-yard field goal came on the last play of the first half. The game-winner split the uprights. It was the 11th game-winning kick for Bironas, which set the franchise record. “It’s a pressure situation,’’ Bironas said. “I wouldn’t be doing what I do if I didn’t like it. I like those situations. I like it when guys depend on me, just like when I depend on them to get me in range.” Source: Titans Insider
