SUMMARY: The Tennessee Titans sit near the top of the NFL with $40 million in cap room. However, they will only have 40 players under contract for 2008 not counting restricted free agents and futures contracts. "We have the resources that we need to get better, to make this team better," General Manager Mike Reinfeldt said. "That being said, I think we should still do our homework. Doing it in a disciplined way still makes sense." The Titans will want to look to signing some of their own unrestricted free agents. Among those who will be UFAs is Jacob Bell, Chris Brown, Justin Gage, Gilbert Gardner, Ben Hartsock, Albert Haynesworth, Chidi Iwuoma, Travis LaBoy, Eric Moulds, Donnie Nickey, Antwan Odom, Rich Scanlon, Randy Starks and Ben Troupe. Among the RFAs are Rob Bironas, Casey Cramer, Vincent Fuller, Reynaldo Hill, Daniel Loper, Bo Scaife and David Stewart. The Titans two exclusive rights players include Sean Conover and Ahmard Hall.

Unrestricted that I feel like are keepers for sure in no particular order(nothing against the other guys): Jacob Bell, Justin Gage, Albert Haynesworth, Antwan Odom, Randy Starks would be 2nd tier on the list.
Restricted free agents: Rob Bironas, Vincent Fuller, Daniel Loper, Bo Scaife and David Stewarts are definites. Exclusive rights: Ahmard hall. That puts us at 51...so several will have to be cut to make room for hopefully top tier FAs and draft picks.

    big spenders this year!

  5. Starks is gone. I think Bell will likely be gone in the face of last year's massive guard contracts. Gage's future depends on his contract demands.

The RFAs will probably all be back, but they will chew up a good chunk of our cap space. Maybe about $10M worth.

  6. Debatable... After we pay our RFAs, Haynesworth, and Odom, we'll have about $15M left to spend.

And there's not a lot to spend it on, even if we have much to spend.

    Good info Starkiller.

I really hope we are able to keep Haynesworth, Odom, Bell, and Gage.

How much longer are Brandon Jones and Roydell Williams left on contract?

  8. I'm fairly certain that both will be UFAs after 2008.

I could see maybe a FA WR in the mix and I wound't mind seeing if we can do something long term with Stewart. Basically some of the better players are our own.

I don't think the Titans will keep any UFA besides Haynesworth (who they'll tag). There's too much money out there and every UFA hitting the market has $$ in their eyes.

    :greedy:

I think we'll see the Titans telling a few players they'd like to be in negotiations if they get offers but I'd be shocked if we see many UFAs in the league accept deals this month. I expect tags will fly in late February.
