there is a huge gap between Eddie being a stand up guy, and running an NFL team.

I'm not willing to risk tarnishing the mans legacy here either. One of the few things we can hold on to.

 

Agree...I am talking about something besides CEO as well. That was why I was so supportive of him being a "face guy" in a new ownership group a couple of weeks ago.

That said, people are discussing John Elway as an example here, and he did own an Arena league team for a few years prior to taking on the role with the Broncos. Does anyone know what Ozzie Newsome did before taking on his role with the (back then) Browns? I am not sure he had much experience...actually think he was not too far from retiring as a player when he took that role on.

 

Ex Pro player that has success in business indeed. We have to remind ourselves that the President doesn't just sit behind the desk and say hey we need Player A or Player B. All of the departments heads await his orders and leadership, which is a lot of decision making that does not directly involve football.

 

How is Newsome's role analogous to what the Titans are searching for? The Ravens have a president and Newsome focuses primarily on football operations.

 

Did I say that he did? No.

My point is the same point I made originally....while Eddie may not be the right guy for CEO right now, I think that he can be helpful in other leadership roles with the team.

In either case I am not going to smugly diss him for his educational background (which really is pretty good IMO). He has done pretty well in life for where he is now, and would be good for the organization IMO.

 

Anybody see any news about our CEO/President search?

 

I wouldn't be surprised if they have forgotten to do it.
