Veteran tight end Visanthe Shiancoe worked out for the Titans on Tuesday, and the team plans to sign him.

The 11-year NFL veteran has played with the Giants, Vikings and Patriots during his career. He has 243 receptions for 2,677 yards and 27 touchdowns.

The Titans need help at the position, as tight ends Craig Stevens and Delanie Walker have missed time with concussions.

UPDATE: The Titans officially announced the addition of Shiancoe later Tuesday.

He's hopefully going to be an upgrade from Thompson.

No chit. Save the money. We keep signing all these guys only to let them go a few weeks later. WTF- this season is tanked any way. Munchak looks desperate.

The reason we never hit on projects like Thompson is because:

    A) Our scouts suck at recognizing hidden gems and
    B) We suck at developing these guys.

Amen !!! You want a damning indictment of the Mike Munchak era's way of doing things just look at the whole Quinn Johnson deal. Haven't they signed and released this guy like 5 times over the last 2 years, and yet here we go again with him, never mind the fact that he was worthless the whole entire time he was here the first go round', why are they brining this dog back, they raely use blocking back much anyway, use freaking Shane 2.5 Mil Stevens back there as he isn't good for anything else as it is. That's what we get with the Munchak bunch. No real depth, no real methodology for developing talent, and no real plan over all on how to improve, so what you ultimately get is a perennial 8-8 (at best avg) team.
