No way the jets were going to give a 2nd or 3rd. That is a fantasy. McNair went for a 4th. It just was never going to happen.

    Ewker...

Yes what is so bizarre about that? There is nothing stopping billy volek from working hard and being a good teamate GOING FORWARD. My question is that if he did all the right things and said all the right things is it too late.

Guys do lose their starting jobs sometimes only to work hard to regain it. The day collins was signed jeff fisher said they brought him in to compete for the starting job. Looks to me more like they handed it to him before he hit the tarmack.

If fisher was not lying and that collins was brought in to compete, then billy could theoretically win it back right?

Collins does suck. You realize that right? Billy volek doesn't have to be joe montana to take that job from kerry collins but given the stubborness of jeff fisher it may be true.

Different situation. Pennington went down early in the season and they had Bollinger. Billy was coming off his 2004 year where his stock as "starter" was the highest it had ever been.

Now, the rumors were on the boards, nothing in print, only some mention of a 3rd with a conditional 2nd on the on-line sports rags.

The Mcnair thing was completely different. Teams knew we were strapped to keep him because of his cap hit. We were lucky to get the 4th on him.

    Culpepper was worth a 2nd
    McNair a 4th

No way in hell Volek is getting more then that.
QBs just don't bring in that value anymore (outside of the untouchables)

After 2004 the Jets had NO QB and WERE going to trade a 1st for Volek. Remember, the Jets then were a playoff team, so a first was in the 20s. I guess news older than 3 weeks is to hard to remember for you?

    Rolltide, my comment was sarcasm.
Fisher has made his mind up that Volek isn't going to play no matter what happens to Collins. Heck he might even put Drew in instead of BV to be the QB if both KC and VY went down

Ship 'em and house will be cleaned of the mess that the Titans created for themselves. It's the only solution. And Vince will look like High Speed Internet compared to Collins dial up.
