It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Tony Brown for example was great for us (minus the offsides), and was only 297, we just need another DT who wants to crack skulls.

This guy is more than big enough. Take him over a 320 lb fat ass who gets tired after two plays. If he is big enough to play NT in an 3-4 then he is big enough for us.

Check this dude out. He always has the same mean, nasty, look on his face. I love it!

Id sign him and rotate him on 1st down with Wimbley. Then you can play Wimbley and Ayers on pass rush downs.

Forget the thinking that "big" linemen are automatically the answer. Shaun Smith was massive but couldn't stop the run for 'ish. I'll take a smaller dude if he can stop the run. That's ALL that matters for us right now.

This would be a nice pick up. When news broke we were interested, he retweeted it. That's interesting.

Living in the Bay I do know a little about RJF. I would def support this move and would immediently be an upgrade over Marks in the middle. No he's not the biggest DT out there but all indications from what I have heard is that he's a worker and grinder and something we could use there in the middle. A little surprised San Francisco is letting him walk between him and their other aging DT in the middle they will have little depth now. If the Titans can get RJF on somewhat of the cheap I think it will be a solid addition in the prime of his career. Therefore, they can focus all their attention on DL in the FA, OL and CB in the draft and DT would be OK for the short-term future.

He'd be an upgrade over Marks.

I was also thinking here, that like the way the NFL is, its increasingly hard to call things 'obvious' passing downs, or rather call the plays/personnel you'd want to in those situations.

Now a days offenses, especially the good ones, keep the tempo pretty fast and don't allow D's to sub guys in and out regularly, or sometimes at all - ESPECIALLY linemen. By the time they are off the floor, the ball's already been snapped. Its hard to get your role players in there when you don't have the chance.

In the end, you need some beef in the middle, those 10/20/30+ gashes up the gut need to be greatly minimized. They break the back of the D... (I don't know how with all that, I still pictured Griff 'wiffin - I coulda swore I was talking about DTs.)

What I'm saying, is that you need GOOD big guys, think like Geno, JJ, K-Will (Viking), Suh (when he's on), Woolly, or Big Al when he was absolutely destroying things. Smith is the furthest thing from a good big guy.

Geno was a gem in the fourth, they say this class is extremely deep at DT, hope we can find a GOOD big DT later on... (In the end, it might be my only hope to not see Griff' wiff, at least on TV...)
