The Titans released No.3 quarterback Rusty Smith on Saturday morning, which means they’ll go into the season with only two quarterbacks.

In an effort to get to the NFL-mandated 53-man roster limit by 5 p.m., the Titans also released:

    • Tight end Jack Doyle
    • Fullback Collin Mooney
    • Defensive end/linebacker Scott Solomon
    • Linebacker Tim Shaw
    • Receiver Rashad Ross
    • Cornerback Khalid Wooten

Interesting that most of the cuts so far this morning have been great practice squad candidates.

Scott Solomon cut one year after we traded up to draft him. Two picks wasted.

Look at it this way, at least we ain't too proud to admit a mistake. Jags still have that ridiculous qb starting when I'm pretty sure henne is better.

They're both awful, but if you're going to lose you lose with the guy in which you invested the tenth pick. Gus Bradley gets a pass this year unless they go 0-16 or 1-15.

I suppose that's a way to look at it.

Will any of the releases wind up on the practice squad? How does that work?

Well I know now that you have to be active so many games before you become ineligible for PS. I thought it was 3 years in the NFL and that was it. They will try to get Doyle on the PS but I stand by my call that the Pats pick him up. Mooney and Wooten are the only 2 I think make it onto the PS that are on that list.

The Shaw release makes me think we try and go after a LB. That's the only release I'm surprised by so far.
