There have been a number of players in the PGA of the same skin tone for years. It makes no difference unless you can win majors.

VeeJay? Tiger is young dark, and looks like a kid. Plus he has the name "Tiger". It's not the person himself that's responsible for people throwing money at him. We've seen great golfers in the past, but they were even more boring old white guys that no one would recognize on a commercial.

So I'd say it's mostly due to race. He's great also, but it's golf. Take 20 real athletes off a basketball court and they could probably do it just as well. Maybe not, but after golfing the same courses for 20 years? I'm sure they'd come close.

There have been African-American golfers in the PGA for decades. Why were they not big endorsers? Because they were not champions.

Think Tiger would be endorsing anything if he was ranks 178th in the PGA?

gloat you talk like there have been comparable champions in the past. He has the 2nd most majors of all time and he's 32. The reason he's so marketable is because he seems to be one of the classiest athletes and has been a golf prodigy since he was 2. He's the most confident athlete the world has ever seen but still doesn't come off as arrogant. Almost everyone in the world loves him. And it seems the only people who don't always think the only reason he's popular is because he's black.

Tiger Woods is the most dominating athlete in his/her own sport in the history of sports. Of course he's marketable.

Sorry but I don't agree with either of those statements.

I think the only, or at least main reason, he has been so marketable is his dominance. That and golf is a worldwide sport.

And Gloat, your comment that any nba player would be just as good at Golf is ignorance. It's not like Tiger is playing 1 course, he was playing 50 a year in various tournaments. It's skill. You may not consider golf a sport, but golf takes skills. It's not ping pong, everyone can't do it.

You really don't think he's the most confident athlete in the world? Can you name me a couple guys who you believe are more confident? The guy actually believes he's going to win every tournament he plays in which is just ridiculous. And yes a large portion of his marketability is the class he shows win or lose. And how is he not one of the classiest athletes? can you name me a few athletes who show more class win or lose than tiger?
