Weigh in from the draft today:
USC defensive end Nick Perry (6-3, 271) was much larger than his listed weight of 250 pounds. That weight change is very significant. It could push Perry to being only a 4-3 defensive end and not a 3-4 outside linebacker. It will be interesting to see how he performs in the drills and if he has the athleticism to warrant consideration as a 3-4 edge rusher.

If he got stronger and kept his speed, look out.

    From WalterFootball.com:
    Nick Perry*, DE/OLB, USC
    Height: 6-3. Weight: 250.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
    Projected Round (2012): 1-2.
2/17/12: Perry really improved his performance from 2010. He finished the 2011 season on on a tear with 5.5 sacks in four games. Perry battled well against Stanford offensive tackle Jonathan Martin even though he didn't have a sack in the game. As the year wore on, Perry simply got better. He is lightning off the snap, and his speed to turn the corner and cut back to the inside overwhelms offensive tackles. Perry has a good repertoire of moves, and the only thing lacking from his game is more bulk and strength.

The redshirt junior totaled 54 tackles with 9.5 sacks, 13 tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles and two passes batted in 2011. If Perry had decided to return for his senior season and continued to improve under Monte Kiffin before going pro, he could have been a high first-round pick in 2013.

8/21/11: Nick Perry broke out with eight sacks as a freshman. Last year, his numbers dipped to four sacks and 7.5 tackles for a loss. At his current size and weight, he would probably be better served as a 3-4 outside linebacker. Defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin flipped Perry from right to left defensive end last year. If he stays at end as a professional, he should add some more bulk. Perry needs to improve his production in 2011 to get his draft status going in the right direction.

jwyattsports Southern Cal DE Nick Perry said he hasn't talked to the #Titans in Indy yet, but he thinks he will. "Hopefully, maybe, I'll be a #Titan."

Campbell is a good player, but you know he'd be more of a DT for the Titans instead of an end, right? He's 6'8" 300 lbs.

    Nick Perry 6"3 271/ 33" arms/ 35reps
    Melvin Ingram 6"1 264/ 31" arms/ 28reps
    Whitney Mercilus 6"4 261/ 33.875" arms/ 27reps
    Vinny Curry 6"3 266/ 32.75" arms/ DNP
    Quinton Coples 6"6 284/ 33.25" arms/ 25reps
    Andre Branch 6"4 259/ 34" arms/ DNP

Ladies and gentlemen, if he still has that 4.59 explosion at 271 lbs., things could get very interesting.
