The Podcast: Episode #2 Bear-ly Winning

These people don't realize I'm on my phone and it's being recorded just out xos receiver to a speaker do they lol

 

Not bad for just the 2nd attempt. It just kinda feels like Im listening in on a phone conversation though. like 2 friends casually talking about the game, giving their random thoughts. that is why it's so repetitive I think ... It needs better structure. That will keep you from just going back to the same topics.
I definitely think segmenting the show would help, and some unique segments would help as well.

I'd structure like this:

- Intro music / introductions

- Recap of the game (insert some Mike Keith calls from the game) ... give the basic scoring summary, major plays, and stats of the major contributors.

- Major bullet points / takeways. Focus on one bullet/take away at a time (for example; bad play of secondary, MM looking good, Henry deserve bigger load, ect) ... you guys touched on all these points, but not in a very structured way. it just kinda flowed back and forth to whatever thought was in your head at the time. I think focusing on one at a time will help it from feeling "repetitive"

- some sort of semi-unique segment. Could be each of you pick your bone headed call of the game, or you each give your award for MVP and LVP (least valuable player) of the game ... or anything really that allows you to pick something not so "obvious" from yhe game and put your own opinion / spin on it.

- take a look at the bigger picture (standing in AFCS, PO picture, draft, ect ... again could be one of a number of things. just something else to talk about that is relevant to the game, but not rehashing the same thing)

- take a look at the next week opponent.

Also, don't be afraid to put your personality into it. Both sounded a little stiff ... Also don't just agree with everything the other says, debating/disagreement is more entertaining. I don't know how many times 520 was just like "yeah, yeah"

 

Me and xo tend to agree a lot lol.

You are both perfect. No need to fix anything. Let the haters hate. Your voices are the first thing I want to hear in the morning when I wake up and the last thing I want to hear before going to bed.

 

Podcasts can be tough to do if the other guy is somewhere else. Me and my buddy did skype and it worked out pretty well.

 

Dunce did one a while back...tried to listen to it...but you know it's Dunce so....I didn't finish it.

 

Duuuuude!! The podcast is great! XO is like a natural moderator the way he talks, but I agree there needs to be more structure - easy to lose the listener's attention if the tone remains the same throughout. The second biggest issue is Estons mic.

I like the inclusion of an intro song, and I agree with whoever said include audio from the game if you can. "Hey let's talk about this play...*queue audio*...discuss". Recommend you guys listen to some established sports podcasts to get those ideas. But I'm sure you're already thinking about that. Great job though, glad this is a thing. You may have to record the night of the game and take the time to edit and release on Tuesday?
