ESPN was saying last night that suspensions like these could end up bringing on "right to work" labor lawsuits. While Goodell is trying to clean up the NFL, it could have the reverse effect, with them being sued in courts around the country. This appeal could end up being more of a "threat". Then you have the problem of team suspensions, even if the NFL doesn't step in. The Titans could have very well imposed the same suspension for violating team rules. So if you sue your own team, where does that leave you? What a mess.

This is why I believe Goodell's policy is dangerous. Using Pac as an example revealed the enforcement (and punishment) to be arbitrary, unprecedented and unequally enforced. Hitting a player with that squarely in the pocket-book causes damages that put the NFL at risk for a labor suit. Many posters have referenced "fire at will" statutes that do not apply in discriminatory (not just racial) labor suits. This situation is RIFE with labor transgressions. Goodell should have kept his word to "not make any player an example". He chose not to and in so doing has backed himself into a corner. He has not enforced the policy on players from major markets- further fueling the case for Pac. Interesting to see how the rest of this unfolds. I'm hoping for Pac, the Titans and the NFL that Goodell gets some sense and reduces Pac's suspension to a number of games commensurate with precedent and recognizes his ex post facto error.
