The NFL labor agreement thread

Dont have any links but just saw on espn that the owners proposed a deal to extend the deadline and are waiting for a responce from the players. To me, it sounds like they are close to agreeing towards a deal. If they werent close, i think they would just opt to go ahead with the lockdown so hopefully this can be veiwed with some optimism.

I still say the best way to get this done is to get the lawyers out of the room, get a pot of coffee and hammer it out. 90% of this is about the money

 

Once again not sure if there is a link yet but the deadline was just extended 24 hours. Wonder if that means they are getting close to a deal?

I think the extension is a great sign!!

 

i could just be overly optimistic but, i dont see them extending it just to extend it. Both sides were fully prepared to and even seemed wanting to decertify/lockout, so hopefully this means they still think it can be worked out

 

i bet they have 2-3 extensions

 

I don't think anyone made note of it in this thread, but a few days ago a federal judge ruled against the NFL (the owners in this case) receiving that $4 billion dollars from the television contracts if there were no season

both sides do want to work something out, i dont think that was ever out of this thing

really, all one can take the extension as is that they are closer than they previously were - which is still a good thing.

However, considering how far apart they were on this issue...closer could realistically be anywhere on that spectrum, from close to just over halfway

 

some great news coming out of the negotiations. They will extend another 7 - 10 days and sounds like they made huge progress. decertification of the union would be a catastrophe
