Watching todays (8-28-07) local news casts. I heard that the city has decided to revamp Nashvilles river front .............. again, which would include the area around L P Field. What I expected them to say was that they were getting ready to push the stadiums next door neighbor junkyard into the river.
What they are talking about doing is turning the area around L P Field into a "forest". The area that we now call, "parking lots". In fact EVERY parking lot south and east of the stadium. I wonder how they expect to recover all that money! Each parking space generates $250.00 a season.
They went on to say that if they got all the federal funding that they are applying for, that the entire stadium would exsist on an island, surrounded completely by water. (If Wolfs Creek Dam lets loose, they won't be far from the truth).
Their drawings look nice. But I question the loss of those high $$$$ parking lots and the fact that the 'Steiner junkyard' issue hasn't been faced.

they've been talking about this for months

imo,...... creating the "island" is a horrible idea
right up ther with deconstructing all the interior interstates

whoever, on the planning commisiion is coming up with these bonehead ideas should consider going to Dubai

    btw .... which network ?
is it on their website ?

  4. The problem with the Steiner Liff property is that it is privately owned and it is in use. The company doing scrap metal work (Phillips Metals) has a lease to use the property, so you can't just kick them out...

Eventually someone will buy the property to develop it. But it's not just sitting vacant and owned by the government like the thermal plant property is...

  6. Especially since they want to dig a waterway right though property that has been doing scrap metal and battery disposal for about a century now. Think of the environmental nightmare that would cause...

lots of occupied buildings in current use in 1997 when Bredesen decided to put the stadium where it is instead of Steiner Liff property.

Of course the vast majority of those buisness were small and unincorporated so Bredesen just ignored them and did as he pleased where he pleased when he pleased as long as BA said he could
