Uhhh... Collins has NEVER thrown for over 400 yards in his ENTIRE CAREER. Get it? That was one minor point in a big picture. And even if we were desperate, that would have NOTHING to do with the reason why he threw for over 400 yards.

And yes, if we cant start off good with 3 of 4 at home this year.... by all means mock away. But considering we are 12-4 at home over the past 2 years dont bank on it.

Why is this so hard for you guys to understand? What is in the water up there? If Mario Williams was flagged for a hit on your QB that injured him, then how in the world could I possibly dispute if it was an illegal hit or not?? Not to mention the main point here.... see the picture... that is FAT ALBERT, and he is crushing our QB with every ounce of his body and it was helmet to helmet.... what QBs would NOT get hurt from that? THANK GOD we do not have to face him anymore.

Look at the angles of their bodies.

Technically Albert's helmet is touching Schaubs but if you define that as a helmet to helmet hit then you don't know football.

    This is helmet to helmet....

That is a STILL FRAME photo. I am pretty sure it doesnt do the actual play justice. He was flagged for a reason.

But regardless, that is Fat Albert and his 350 lbs coming down on you entirely. Just not sure why many people are surprised that Schaub would miss games after that. Just dont see many QBs not enduring the same if it were them being man crushed by a very very large man. Same goes for the illegal and FINED hit that Jared Allen got when his helmet hit Schaubs knee dead on. AGAIN, thank God we dont have to see him anymore.

So let me sum up the hits that have gotten Matt Schaub injured over the past couple of years that give you guys the impression he will be injured all year again.

    2008:
The illegal and fined hit by Jared Allen to the knee that cost Schaub ALL THE TIME he missed last year. Other than this hit, Schaub just fine all year.

    2007:
The helmet to helmet hit noted above by Fat Albert, clearly an obvious injury that most QBs could not avoid and cost him games in 2007. Mostly from his giant body crushing down on Schaub:

The illegal AND FINED helmet to helmet cheap shot hit by San Diego Chargers Drayton Florence to Schaub when he wasnt looking and jogging after an INT.

So, as you can see.... basically EVERY TIME Schaub has been knocked out or seriously injured it was from an illegal and in most cases a FINED hit by the league. Other than those, there has been only ONE TIME where Schaub has been injured off of a normal legal hit.

So what this says to me is that Schaub has had quite a bit of bad luck combined with an Oline that has been reworked and has had to endure alot of growing pains. That should hopefully be fixed by this season with Alex Gibbs in year 2 and the addiition of draft pick Caldwell from Bama.

BUT! I will be the FIRST to concede that if he continues to get put out of games on legal hits or what have you moving forward, then in fact thats just the breaks in the league and we may have to look elsewhere for a starting QB. You cant predict injuries when acquiring a player and he was taken on his work ethic and talent he has already showed throwing the ball over the field. But I do feel that Schaub is ready to take on a full season this year, but we shall see.

Oh, and if Schaub is available in your fantasy draft in like round 6 or 7, TAKE HIM. He could be a steal this year and possibly throw for 4000 yards. Again, if he puts in a full season.

this is full contact football. not flag football. if your qb cant handle the hits...maybe he should not play. maybe tennis is more his style...skinny people play that game.

 yes yes, illegal and fined hits are all good and every player that gets injured by them should be noted as it being their fault actually.

And I have already conceded that if there is more of the same from future normal football hits that are within the rules then we have a problem. But not too many people are concerned here in Houston as its alot of bad luck and illegal hits thus far. Schaub is a better QB than Collins and the Oline here in Houston should be much better in 09.

Same old song and dance in Houston. You better hope Schaub is still healthy when that SF game roles around. I could see you dropping 7 of you last 10 games if it lies on Grossman.
