Texans sign Matt Leinart

Will Witherwhoo?? Isnt that the guy who was traded for a no name WR a couple years ago? Morgan? No rookie is a sure thing, just like our Kareem Jackson. But thats why we took a Nick Saban CB with first pick, as we felt he would be the most pro ready. Dunta Robinson was a JOKE btw. Anyone who thinks he was our best cornerback last year didnt watch us play. That went to CB Glover Quin, who Kubiak stated that if it werent for Cush... Quin would have won defensive rookie of the year. Replacing Dunta is not going to kill this defense or anything. In 2009, we were the 11th best team in pass coverage... but that was in large part to our front 7. Which should be even better with Mario healthy, Amobi Okoye 23 yrs old now, Connor Barwin in 2nd year, and adding DT Earl Mitchell whom the coaches love. We are now also in the SECOND year of our new Def. Coordinator. We have Pollard for a full 16 now as well. This defense after inserting pollard was a top 5 Defense in the league from week 4 on.

Yes, Cushing will be out and that hurts. But he is not injured nor did he leave in free agency... he is the starter and will return for the entire rest of the season after week 4.

Again, 28th ranked D... vs. the 13th ranked D. Lets just say yours does improve, and ours gets worse. Thats a very very wide gap there already. It still wouldnt mean yours would be better as those points you made would have to be devastating to our D, and magical for yours.

Question, were DE and LB the only two positions responsible for having one of the worst defenses in the league????

We had Nick Harper, per definition that's a sucky defense. It can only be equalized by a Fat Al playing for a 100M contract.

Titans & Texans were equal in rushing defense, with a 4.3 YPC. Then in pass defense, the Titans sucked (blame Harper & injuries in general), allowing way too many big gains (20+ yards). But we still had more sacks and INTs than Texans.

Wait, are you seriously claiming that your coach thinks that you had the two best defensive rookies of they year?

Obviously, neither he nor you has heard of Jairus Byrd... I also think that Matthews or Orakpo would have taken it long before Quin.

That's ok though, in a few more days, reality will come crashing back down again on the Texans fans... just like it always does.

That 4.3 ypc is a bit bloated due to the first 3 games without Pollard, a hurt Cush, a first time new DC, took a bit to gel,etc. After those first 3 games last year.... we were on pace to set a record for worst rushing D in the history of the NFL. No joke. But for the final 13 games (insert Pollard, the D came together,etc) the Texans D would have been in the top 5 in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. It was a dramatic improvement.

I just hope Finnegan is starting again this year. Andre LOVES him some Finnegan.

Yep, thats what he said. I dont agree he is THAT good. Hes basically just saying he loves the kid and has a bright future, which was the point.

I know who Byrd is... and he wont have a stretch of INTs like he had last year for the rest of his entire career. It was unbelievable how perfect some of those interceptions fell right into his lap, or were tipped right to him, or were way overthrown,etc. Look, I give the man respect for being in position and all that. But seriously, take a look at these highlights. They just do not overly impress me. I just dont think he is as good as everyone thinks he is. I could definitely be wrong, and the dude just has that knack. But I want to see more first.

Titans had a brand new DC too. And don't start yapping about injuries - we had them too. - Truth is, we gave up way too many +20yard receptions and that was basically the only difference between the Texans and the Titans. Stats don't lie.

And our D-Line loves to hug and bash Matt Schaub.
