Pretty much every year there is a "surprise pick" in the NFL Draft, normally in the Top 10. Like last year, Tyson Alualu was drafted 10th, and projected to be a late 1st/early 2nd guy. Then in 09, Mark Sanchez was taken 5th, and projected to be a late 1st. So on, and so on.

So it got me wondering.. who will be the "surprise pick" on the 2011 NFL Draft. I personally think it will be: Phil Taylor, DT.. to the REDSKINS (10th overall). That would be a shocker.

    Who are your surprise pick(s)?

Would Locker to the Titans at #8 qualify?

    This.

I have a feeling the Titans could very well end up taking Locker at 8. Not being the expert talent evaluators that some here are, I'm not sure how I should feel about it. Regardless of my initial reaction, being the glutton for punishment that I am, I'm sure I'll jump on the Jake bandwagon until Locker proves himself to be a total hump.

There is too much defensive talent to pick Locker at 8...we can try trading up into the first if we are certain he's our guy. Though, that might be a sticky situation.

The more I think about it. The more I really think it could happen if the right guys are off the board when our pick comes up.

Yeah, Locker at 8 is the one that jumps out at me too. Or I could see the Redskins really reaching for a QB at 10 if they can't find anyone to trade down/up with. If Locker is gone, Mallett perhaps?

I doubt Mallet goes to Washington, they will want someone alittle more mobile. If Locker is gone, I could see them going for Kaepernick in the second or trading back into the first for him

Ive got a feeling Locker is going in the top 10 as well, either to us at #8, or to Washington at #10. I also would not be shocked at all for Mallett to go to Washington at #10. They were talking about that quite a bit yesterday on Moving the Chains on NFL Radio.

It really is unfortunate that this QB class is seemingly so weak. I can't remember the last time this many teams picking in the top 10 were in such dire need of QB. I see a whole lot of reaching going down, out of pure desperation.

#4 Ryan Mallet to the Bengals

#7 Jake Locker to the 49ers

#8 AJ Green to the Titans

I think that Newton will go #1 and Gabbert will go to Buffalo which will cause Cincy to reach on Mallet because they know he won't be there in the 2nd.

SF surprises by taking Locker. I think that Harbaugh has seen enough of this kid to take a shot on him.

Of course these are all fantastical predictions, so AJ Green falling to us @ #8 would be a dream scenario.
