Stewart being called by a different nickname

    Right tackle David Stewart has been known as “Big Country” ever since he arrived with the Titans in 2004.

    While Stewart’s needed time recovering from the broken leg he suffered last season, he’s had to live with another nickname.

    “We’ve changed his name from Big Country to Country Club,’’ offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said a grin. “He’s spent a lot of time in the training room.”

    Stewart missed practice again on Monday as he deals with leg soreness. Byron Stingily worked in his place with the starters. After missing the preseason opener, Stewart hopes to play on Saturday at Cincinnati.

    As for his new nickname, Stewart said: “I’ve heard that a few times. Hey, they can call me what they need to call me. It’s not going to hurt my feelings.”

    Pretty sure it really doesn't hurt his feelings at all. Dude is tough as can be, he could care less what they call him. I bet he can see the humor in it, it is a rather funny play on his nickname.

    He's probably a really sensitive guy who has built this façade. He probably cries himself to sleep thinking about "Country Club" every night.

    People who's feeling aren't hurt don't say "they're not gonna hurt my feelings". I'm not saying he's an overly sensitive guy but being injured on a football team really sucks.You feel like a ghost and if you're out long enough you start to feel like you're not a part of them. Definitely makes some tough guys more likely to be sensitive from what I've seen.

    Good to see Stingily get some time to show what he can do. I am curious as I have a feeling Stewart's career will not last much longer.
