Steers and Queers! (A Texans smack thread)

I'm fine with some good-natured jokes. I just don't really like seeing the slurs. Fag, queer, etc. You guys drop those like it's nothing. To me, those words are no different than the n-word, but the fact that I have to censor that word tells me that society has yet to reach the point where everyone considers them equal. And before someone tries to tell me that gay people refer to themselves as queer, so it's okay for everyone else to use the word, I'll point out that their usage of the word is no different than black people using the n-word. It's reappropriation.

To me, using the concept of homosexuality as an insult just shows ignorance and childishness. That's the language of 13-year-old boys on Xbox Live. Grown men should be more thoughtful in their insults. There are better ways to mock the Steelers. People just don't really talk like that where I live, so it's very weird for me to see all of you doing it like it's normal.

If I'm somehow too uptight in your eyes because I don't like when people use bigoted language, then I am happy to be too uptight.

You have to wonder why they're always having parades and flaunting they're
"gayness" for all to see.
You dont see Hetro parades.
Personally I couldn't give two shats about gay people one way or another.
But if they're going to go out and make a spectacle of themselves they should expect a little flak.

I think at this day in age, most people are perfectly fine with gay people being gay. What gets gays in trouble and made fun of is flaunting their gayness for all to see, and throwing in peoples faces like "here, deal with it, we're queer and fabulous".

You don't catch me walking around town yelling white power or "oh yea whites rule", and you don't see other types throwing their culture in peoples faces. I see Indians all around wearing their saris and kurtas, but they don't spin in the wind screaming shaka flaka waka waka simi dingi doo in Hindi. Cause if they did, they know it might get them tripped and robbed. And not cause they're different but cause that's F-ing annoying.

I just don't see these people who are supposedly going around and throwing their gayness in people's faces. Frankly, I really doubt you guys do, either.

You live in Toronto, come down a few exits and see for yourself.

Toronto has a huge gay population. They are regular people. Not once in my life has any one of them flaunted anything in my face.

I get the feeling you would be offended by two dudes holding hands in public, though.

Holding hands is okay. Sticking hands in back pockets is pushing it.

Kissing is defiantly too much to stomach, just irks me out.
