  1. Assuming he is to stay on the roster, the only thing they can do to lower his cap hit is to give him a whole new contract that has a lower cap hit this year than the $10M he is set to receive. But that seems unlikely at this point...

Great info Starkiller thanks. If we trade him or let him play out his current contract this year or release him we would take the whole 23+ mil cap hit this year and it frees up all that space for next year? If we rework his contract does that previous 13mil get spread over the term of the new contract? Thanks again Starkiller

I am also a huge McNair fan and hope this works out fairly for both sides and Steve stays with us. Having said that im a bigger fan of winning and if we over pay we will be paying for it in the future. Godfrey and Eddie were great guys but letting them ago when we did was in the best interest of the team. Eddie was with Dallas 1yr and out of the league, Godfrey is still playing but is an average mlb. The FO must put emotions aside and do what is the best interest of the team. It will upset a lot of us if Steve leaves but it will upset many more people if we dont win.

  6. Long story short, the only way McNair will have any cap impact for the Titans next year is if they sign him to a new contract.

If he plays here under his current contract, he'll count about $23M against the cap this year. If they cut or trade him, he'll count $13M. If they sign him to a dew deal, the $13M would be spread out so it wouldn't all hit this year.

I could have sworn we stood to save 10 million there.
So why was someone quoteing some magazine/journal that said something about 4.4 million give or take? What was that all about?
