RE TitansElite I said elitist and Gunny said I was trying to look hip. Not the same thing at all. And I'm not even really elitist in the classic term - I prefer a great looking bluray transfer to a crappy vhs version. I have an ipod (iphone) and haven't bought vinyl in 15 years. My condemnation of Transformers, Gunny is because it's a freakin horrible franchise, run by Hollywood's biggest turd. Even the actors in the movies are saying this.. Dogs know it. You need a better example cuz that series has few defenders other than children maybe..
And Gunny your bit about not taking time out of your day to criticize is lol. Scan the entire Avengers thread and you will not find a single post by me. Same for the Iron Man movies or any other of that ilk. I have probably never posted in the video game forum.. I leave you to it..
What I don't understand is, if you hated the first Transformers so much, why did you go ahead and watch the second and third? If you thought Avengers was lame to begin with, why did you go ahead and go see the movie? Lol Gunny has a point, it's almost like you know you'll hate it and know it's not your cup of tea, but you'll watch it anyway just for the sole purpose of bashing the smallest details in the movies when someone mentions it. And wait, aren't you in your 40's or late 30's? Unless you're a comic book nerd (which obviously you aren't) or have kids that wanted to see these kind of movies, I don't see why you keep bothering. And hate on Michael Bay all you want, but if you didn't enjoy at least The Bad Boys movies (which are really his only movies I enjoyed), then you are truly lost. Btw, being a film guy, give credit when credit is due. Hate on Bay for his dumb dialogue, but he isn't a bad director if it's his field. He's actually a very talented action director and always leads a sick art team. Which is why he should be a co director, have someone else work the script and when you need sh*t blowing up, car chases, etc...let Bay do his thing. Look at Pearl Harbor, dumb script, but the special effects were well beyond its time and more impressive than any post war movie, even today. The chase sequence on the freeway in Bad Boys 2 was sick. First Transformers, the visuals and attention to details was mind blowing and also beyond its time. If you can't at least see that he has talent in certain areas, then you have no right to call yourself a film buff of any sort. I'll give another example, I'm sure you've heard of the Asian classic "Farewell My Concubine." Beautiful film and beautifully directed, I'm sure you would agree. But again, that's his field. That same talented director later made a war film and it was terrible because that's not his field.
Wow we have someone defending Michael Bay. Well crap I have a friend that likes michael bay dreck too but damn his movies are some serious garbage. Like the Star Wars prequels.
Lol I'm not a Michael Bay fan, outside of Bad Boys, his movies suck. My point was even if I'm not a fan of his, I can still recognize he has skills in certain aspects.
He does I guess. I have never really been impressed with special effects though because something in my brain registers it is fakey fake. The movie Chronicle really impressed me for a low budget movie with it's effects and to me that was more impressive than anything in Bay films or Star Wars prequels.
