Five wide is the answer to our problems with this level of line play.

5 wide with bunch trips on one side. Easy pickings against man coverage with all the rub routes in that formation

Is this what was suggested to you while playing Madden or with your proctologist?

This is exactly what we should do, leave our putrid offensive line in one-on-one situations to get Mariota killed.

I would continue to try to run the ball, work the play-action, and keep everything short and quick.

I wouldn't mind see the spread if we run the hurry up, other than that we need to keep out QB upright.

5 wide is dangerous when your Line is a disgrace, at least hold a RB back to help pick-up anything the line misses... If no one comes the RB can sneak to the flats or run a little hitch underneath...

Especially when the only real shifty guy we have is Wright.

I couldn't imagine a more disastrous game plan.

We don't even have the personal to pull this off. With 4 wide outs, you are going to exhaust them all before the end of the 3rd. With Walker out, not a single TE is going to be a threat out wide either.

No, we need to get the plethora of WRs we have on the field. Never mind giving Poutasi help in pass protection. Or backs to clean up the misses in from the interior three.

You do realize that would actually ease the lines blocking right. If you spread 5 wide the D would have to at least put 5 in coverage right???? So, if this is so, then the most they could bring is 6...easier blocking schemes, easier reads at the line for MM and the line. THINK.

NO, no, a thousand times no. The point is that the D couldn't bring more than 6, now I will admit success would depend upon the wr's/TE's actually getting separation but since it would be mostly single coverage someone should be open. MM would have to make quick reads of course but basically that is what he did in college. TRUST me people...watch the PATS game this past sunday..they destroyed a blitz happy bills team spreading it out and forcing the d on its heels.

And our rookie RT gave up 4 sacks last week against one-on-one match ups, so yeah spreading 5 and leaving him in those situations is bad news. At least have a TE/FB/HB chip the defensive end.
