So why didn’t Vince Young stick around in Buffalo?

Quarterback Vince Young played five seasons with the Titans.

He ended up lasting only four months with the Bills, who cut Young back in August. Young had hoped to stick in Buffalo as the team’s back-up behind starter Ryan Fitzpatrick.

So why didn’t he make it?

“It just didn’t work out. It wasn’t a good fit for us,’’ Bills Coach Chan Gailey said in a conference call on Wednesday morning. “He worked hard. He did everything he could just right. It just didn’t work. He didn’t quite get everything that we were trying to do and we were asking him to do some things that probably didn’t fit him.

“We were probably at one stage and he was at another stage, so it just didn’t fit. But he worked hard and he had all the tools, that’s for sure.”

Behind Fitzpatrick, the Bills have quarterbacks Tyler Thigpen and Tarvaris Jackson. Young, who spent last season as Michael Vick’s back-up with the Eagles, remains unsigned.

Young was the third overall pick by the Titans in 2006. He was released following the 2010 season.
