I wonder if that eliminates the possibility of trading Volek.

 

Declining his option wouldn't. If they renegotiated his contract it would make a trade more expensive, but it doesn't sound like they renegotiated.

 

We declined an option on Billy Volek, which means he is still a Titan for 2006 and 2007. We declined an option on Peter Sirmon, which means he is still a Titan for 2006.

No renegotiation, just a plain and clear DECLINED! on their contracts.

Exactly. By not paying the additional option money they simply didn't opt to add the extra years to the existing contract. They did elect to give Roos the option so he gets another year added.

 

Yes, Roos got his extra year. But they were always going to give him his money. Pacman's too, assuming he wasn't in prison...
