So, what do you think the chances are of re-signing him, and if we can't, who would you look toward, either through FA or the draft?

    Chances: Not good.

RFA: Owen Daniels, Texans - love to have him, a more productive Scaife, but the Texans will likely extend him.

Tony Gonzalez: We were close to a deal before the trade deadline hit. Maybe we can try this again.

Draft: I like James Casey from Rice, but the downside is he turns 25 in September. That's also the upside, more maturity, but may not last quite as long overall.

    What do you guys think?

I'm a big Scaife fan, i thought hes come along way since his 1st year here. I'd be seriously disappointed if he went to another team espically if we dont have a plan B. Crumpler IMO was an awful sigining, i was expecting big things from him and he just didnt do it for me. If hes testing the market, then hes not coming back next year its simple. Definitely would like to see him a Titan next year though...

When were we ever close to trading for Gonzalez? Not being a *****, just asking. I never heard that, ever.

    I'd love to have him.

Scaife is the only receiver we have that had any success across the middle...would hate to lose his hands.

It's hard to say Crump was a bad signing when The Titans had the fewest sacks allowed in the league. If Bo leaves does that also mean Elfin goes too?

Did you just out the Mrs. Mr.?

Or of course I've never been in the loop so I'm prolly just the slow redneck that finally figured it out.

Maybe its me then, but when the Titans signed Alge i was expectin the Alge from Atlanta,he was far from it. I'm not saying i was expecting 1000 yards from him(would of been nice:lol:) but i just thought he was going to have a big year considering the Titans have always relied on TE's for alot of their success espically in the redzone. Its my fault for setting my expecation level of him so high

    Scaife will test the market

    <em>Posted by ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky</em> <p> <table border="0" cellspacing="2" cellpadding="2" align="right"> <tr> <td> <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#c0c0c0"> <tr> <td> <table border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1" width="100%"> <tr> <td bgcolor="#ffffff"><img src="http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nfl/players/65/8593.jpg" alt="" hspace="1" vspace="1" width="65" height="90" align="left" /></td> </tr> </table> </td> </tr> </table> <font face="Arial" size="1" style="line-height: 1.5em"><font color="#808080">Scaife </font> </font></td> </tr> </table> Reports out of Nashville say the agent for Titans tight end <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8593" target="_new">Bo Scaife</a> has advised him to test the free agent waters. (<a href="http://tennessean.com/article/20090204/SPORTS01/90204117/1002/SPORTS" target="_blank">Here's one</a>, <a href="http://www.nashvillecitypaper.com/news.php?viewStory=65864" target="_blank">here's another</a>.)</p> <p>Scaife has been a key player for Tennessee, leading the team in receptions in 2008 with 58.</p> <p>But the list of free agents at his position is unimpressive and he saw a teammate, <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5593" target="_new">Ben Hartsock</a>, get silly money last year with far less of a r&eacute;sum&eacute;. Hartsock is more of a blocking tight end. But if he got a four-year, $9 million contract with $2.25 million guaranteed in Atlanta coming off a 12-catch season, Scaife has to think he's in line for significantly more than that based on his numbers.</p> <p>The Titans have a price in mind for Scaife, who I think they believe is, at least in part, a product of their system.</p> <p>If he gets a bigger offer on Feb., 27 or after I suspect they will follow a familiar pattern, saying thanks and good luck and looking to find an alternative pass-catching tight end to go with <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2583" target="_new">Alge Crumpler</a> and <a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11319" target="_new">Craig Stevens</a>.</p>

I look at Scaife and say no way is he a product of our system. The Titans got to be kidding. The dude played football at Texas. He had talent going in, and he has talent going out. He played well for Young and Collins. He played well under two coordinators. He played well in an offense where nobody catches the ball and where nobody can throw it either. So if the Titans let him go, so be it, we need a wr, but Scaife in my opinion deserves the money.

I like Scaife, but I hate to say he is expendable. He reminds me a lot of a healthy LJ smith. He is a Good TE. Not Geat, but good. Maybe I am just greedy and want the Great TE....!
