Brian Randolph turns heads at Tennessee Vols football's Pro Day

Pro Day Report: Vols Post Impressive Marks - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site

The guy was a 4yr starter, in the SEC, and has been the best Safety UT has had since Eric Berry. He just proved at his Pro Day, to be faster, bigger and stronger than Jalen Ramsey. What's more is....he has better production numbers than Ramsey. Go figure.

One of his last plays was an INT against No.12 ranked NorthWestern in this years Outback Bowl. This proves that the NFL has a real problem applying a negative stigma to players on teams that are struggling/rebuilding. Randolph was a damn good safety for the Vols, and didn't even get an invite to the Combine.

I can't see tough, defensive minded coaches like the Steelers' Tomlin or the Ravens' Harbaugh looking past him. His production in college and numbers today make his detractors look pretty stupid right now. A SAFETY just benched more than most Offensive linemen!

    6'0" 208lbs
    4.40/40
31 reps of 225lb (two short of OT Tunsil, who had one of the top bench #s for OL)

I think his numbers just put him in the 4th -5th Rd conversation. He has the size and thumping ability of a SS, with FS coverage skills and speed. Made a lot of big plays for UT. One of the biggest was the clutch pass breakup (final play of the game) in the end zone against Georgia, this year. Pulling off a remarkable upset, coming from a 21pt deficit just before halftime.

Whats his projected round? Or is he even predicted to get drafted at all? Could be a Cortland Finnegan type steal.

He was way under the radar (not invited to the Combine...usually means not expected to get drafted), just like Curt Maggitt. Maggitt was one of the NCAA sack leaders in 2014...had more production than most 1st Rd DE's. Maggitt had a bone chip in his hip early in the season 2015. IF he heals up by training camp, he too could be a late Rd or RFA steal. When healthy, there aren't many more talented pass rushers than him.

He's good. He did have that broken neck thing last spring though. Or something like that, I don't really remember.

Came back and played very well.

Randolph just ate Jalen's lunch today.

Better college stats, bigger, MUCH stronger, harder hitting...and faster. Jalen wanted more national attention (diva) and chose to play outside his HOME state. Let Jalen STAY outside his homestate, for all I care. Randolph would be a MUCH bigger value, since he hasn't been artificially hyped like Jalen has. He's the kind of pick Pittsburgh thrives on...tough guys who were overlooked by the draftnicks.

Big lick on SC's Pharoah Cooper...lot cleaner than the announcer lets on. Shoulder right into the player's chest. It was not late, either....just wicked looking

    Hyperbole! Hyperbole everywhere!

    Ramsey's combine numbers: 6'1" 209, 4.41 40-yard dash, 14 reps at 225.

    Randolph's pro day numbers: 6'0" 210, 4.40 40-yard dash, 31 reps at 225.

Same size and speed. Randolph wins the bench by a significant margin.

Randolph's "better production" came across 53 games played to Ramsey's 41. Randolph broke up 13 passes in his career. Ramsey broke up 10 as a junior and 12 as a sophomore.

Being the best safety UT has had since Berry isn't exactly saying much since they've all blown ass since then.

He's numbers are extremely impressive and he's definitely improved his draft stock significantly.

My perception of him before this was a late round pick, at best. Now I'd say he's a mid rounder. Though someone will probably take a chance and reach on him.

You are actually referring to McNeil. He was the one with the neck injury, but was medically cleared to play this season.
