Sanu is a good WR. He is also a versatile football player. We could use a lot more good football players on our team. I would MUCH rather overpay a guy like Sanu than a guy like Douglas.

I would prefer not to overpay. However, in most cases to get a good player on a bad team you overpay. I believe Sanu is an upgrade over at least 2 of our current WRs......that's something we could use. Especially in a versatile football player.

Overpaying is not a bad thing IF you have the right GM in place that can actually draft good players, and knows what FAs to overpay.

If we overpay for a couple of guys in the short term that can actually help the team, that's no big deal, esp if we are able to draft players that will take their spots in a couple of years for the cheap.

Problem with Webster was he would over pay for guys that flat out sucked, and would be a detriment to the team. (Levitre, Griffin). Then no one that we drafted would turn out to be good enough to take their places.

But we have the cap room ... if overpaying for a couple of contributors for the next 2 years is what we have to do to get on the competitive level, then that's fine with me. Its not my money and we have the space.

Basically, it would provide a stop gap until Robinson can get a couple of draft classes under his belt. At that point we could stop overpaying guys, and just plug in our own guys.

Intention matters. Do they want to be a better team or just want to save money?

Why can't it be both? They saw the opportunity to save a lot of money by cutting an underperforming player. It's not like Webster is still here, the fact that Robinson did makes business and football sense.

Probably could but I don't trust management. I bet he'd still be here and a starter if he was cheaper.

    It's just like he said.

There is no such thing as addition by subtraction.

I don't care how bad you guys hate Griffin. Cutting him does not make our team better.

Money vs production is why he was cut. Not to make the team better. Cutting players doesn't improve your team.

It does when those players suck. When a bad player is taking up a roster slot that could be used for a better player. As long as you add a better player, cutting a bad player DOES help your team.
