Safety Robert Johnson enjoyed a solid offseason, and his momentum has continued in training camp. Johnson worked with the first team defense in Tuesday night’s practice while the normal starter, Jordan Babineaux, worked with the second team.

I liked that lick R Johnson put on that reciever early in Saturdays game. Maybe #33 can learn something from him. :)

I saw that too and wanted to tweet at him for it. Happy to see his hard work paying off. I remember being real excited about him coming out of Utah.

I've been waiting for Rojo to get a chance since we drafted him. I have a feeling he will see some playing time, but won't start.

Safety Robert Johnson’s work with the first-team defense the last couple of practices doesn’t mean he’s bypassed Jordan Babineaux on the depth chart.

But the fact the Titans want to see how he fares with the first-teamers is a good indication of Johnson’s progress.

“It’s a positive thing, obviously, if we’re considering him,” Titans coach Mike Munchak said. “Even when you move guys up, that means they’re showing you something you’re happy with and progressing the way you’d hoped. It’s not anything against Babineaux, saying Babineaux is not doing a certain thing.

“It’s more to see what roles (Johnson) could possibly play in different packages or different match-ups, especially in the secondary when you play teams that spread it, and you want match-ups and you want to play different guys certain games.”

Johnson’s physical tools have never been in question, only his ability to stay healthy and master the defense.

“He’s been getting a feel for the game, getting a feel for where he’s supposed to be,” Munchak said. “We always say he covers a lot of ground. We knew that. It’s just a matter of can he do the communication? Can he make the adjustments? If there’s a call and they start shifting, can he help in game-like situations?”

Nice to see Munchak excited about him because albeit just one pre-season game, I was quite impressed with his effort vs. the Seahawks.

I'd like to see him become a great starter for us since he's still so young.
