Most here aren't old enough to remember what a huge personality this guy was (for one season).. I just happened to be spending the summer outside Detroit as a kid in 76 and got to see him on a Monday night vs The Yankees at Tiger Stadium. At that time they still had Monday Night Baseball on TV and that was the featured game that week.. It was something else to see this guy talking to the ball etc.. Too bad his career was cut short...
    RIP Mark Fidrych

One year wonder really but captured the imagination of a lot of fans with his extremely weird antics on the mound and that one great season of pitching.

Funny thing the antics didn't seem contrived at all to get attention. That was how he did things.

He had his own trucking business and worked on the trucks himself and that is how they found him laying underneath a truck. They assume it was an accident and i hope it was as opposed to a mob hit or something.

Little before my time. He and JR Richard were dominant at the time and I never got see them pitch.

I was reading the free beer and hot wings forums and noticed a thread talking about an interview with this guy, anyone listen to that morning show and know what it was about? They don't have a link on their site or forum, but figured his story must be good if people are talking about it here too.
