Basically we talked numbers, didn't offer anything- Rice came away impressed but will make his trips and then will come back to sign with the Titans- basically he's not signing immediatly because he wants to skip out on training camp- which is what most veterans would like to do...

The market might be too high..

Early in the free agent period the lions signed dwayne white for a 5 year deal @ $29M with $13M guaranteed. Dwayne who? Yeah he's an average player for $6M a year. So combined with the freeney contract the scenario is expensive due to simple supply and demand where almost everyone wants a pass rusher and there are few to pick from. Rice very likely will be too expensive for this team.

That same lion team with matt millen at the helm is also looking at rice. Sorry but i don't want to be in a bidding war with the same guy who gave dwayne white $29M.

So jeff is right on both counts; the market for this player is expensive and probably too expensive for a one dimensional player near thye end of his productivity..

    James hall..

To make way for dwayne white the lions traded DE james hall who is a pretty good player and had a monster 2004. They traded hall to the rams for just a 5th rd pick and i wonder if our guys even knew he was available for that. Hall is a guy we could have used. At 30 he can still play..
