What's the real point in signing guys who won't be here down the road at WR? Just gonna further slow Tajae Sharpe down...

No doubt, however, many of the Guys people wanted are overrated and I am not sure are better options than a draft pick. Too many people look at has beens for what they were, not what they are now. You would think they would learn from the Fisher years.

"Over-rated" is exactly why you offer a decent one year "prove it" contract.

We wanted Cooks and we missed on him. That's obvious to all who are able to handle criticism without going into freakout defense mode.

It would have only helped this team to have picked up Terrell Pryor on a one year contract like he took elsewhere. But we didn't so we have to draft need now.

And the argument can definitely be made we'll "reach" for a WR. For those that make the argument that we shouldn't ever overpay an "over-rated" FA, they should be furious if we "reach" with a valuable a draft pick for a WR not "worthy" of the pick. Because if draft picks are "the right way to build", we should never be "reaching".

And another point is that we have to have systems in place to develop a draft pick and schemes that utilize FAs unique skill sets. And that depends on the coaches we have in place.

I think JRob did an A- to A job last year. He had to rely on a really bad scouting department. He flat out missed on Dodd with our very valuable #33 overall pick. But he traded picks like an upper lever pro GM. He picked up FA pieces that were solid contributors. But he didn't touch CB and that hurt us.

I'd give him a C for what he did thus far as I see it as average. We didn't address WR. He can pull his grade back up to a B+to A- if he can kill this draft with a trade(s) that prevents us from reaching.

There was no FA WR really worth having IMO

I'm actually really glad we didn't waste time and money on one this FA

Not a direct argument- but we paid a nickel CB 10m a year Brave, I think JRob thought he had Cooks and wasn't working on WRs, delay caused a timing issue and we missed on that batch of WRs because of it.

If our WR group wasn't so, so, SO bad I'd agree with you. But there were a number of WRs who were definitely "worth having" in our situation.

I know we've discussed this before, but I REALLY hope that's what happened on the WR front. Otherwise it makes JRob look incompetent at worst or way too cocky about his drafting ability at best.

If we take a WR at 18 and he doesn't pan out, that's Cooks non-trade isn't going to be easy for a lot of fans to forget.

Maybe I'm being a sneak JRob fan boy, but that's the only thing that makes sense in the situation. - if it wasn't the case, o boy.
