Let me rephrase that. I didn't mean last as in how long the physically holds up. I meant last as in how long a system is the latest and greatest.

Maybe some people break out the old systems sometimes, but that's why I want a new system that will play old games. Sometimes the money can factor in to whether or not you get a new system. Then I can see longevity being even more important.

do you know what 'series' 360 it was ?
was it a launch unit ?

find cmfort in knowing that you're about to be UPGRADED
to a new model with HDMI output and possibly even the new 65 nm chip
also, the warranty that comes with this new unit should be 3 years from the date it arrives at your house ... make sure to call MS once you get it to get confirmation on warranty expiration

I know it sounds odd .... but getting the RROD is actually a good thing

btw ... what game were you playing when it crashed ?

    HELLS NO
(did I make it sound like I was defending them?)

I'm just saying there's nothing to worry about with a 3 year warranty
especially since the inclusion of new chipsets / heatsinks

How to find a Falcon model 360 in stores

Based on the info in this thread, A Falcon model Xbox 360 MUST BE:
Lot #0734 (Halo 3) or later (all SKUs)
Manufactured on or after 8/24/07(An HDMI Premium manufactured on 8/19 has been reported as 65nm.)
Team FDOU (Other teams may be Falcon as well, but none have been reported)

My Elite is an FDOU Falcon.

Lot#742. Also if your system has an 175w power supply you have a Falcon.

Mine was made 8-13-07, guess it's a Zephyr. It's a Premium with HDMI, but I guess no 65nm.

I don't know how to check lot or team #. But the Zephyr is supposed to be an upgrade from the original board.
