Not even close to being correct.

First of all New Zealand is about as small a target group as you can get for something like this.

Second Oceania/PAL are the last to get anything in all video games.

Finally March 2008 it is expected.

From quick research of the 360 IPTV, it is based on streaming internet TV?

"the ps3 technology is not the same, and requires a hardware tuner. It's basically turning the ps3 into a cable box. You also only have 1 tuner, so you can only record what you watch, unless you purchase some kind of tuner with multiple tuners built in which would cost more...the technology being used here is equivalent to the TV on the Game boy advance adapters that came out for nintendo.
The 360 version is being done completely through software and using cable over ip. The ip system isnt limited to tuners so you can stream more then say 2 channels to the box. So in theory you can record 5 programs in the same time slot provided because there is no tuner. The system is completely digital.
The fact of the matter is that the iptv service being released on the 360 is lightyears beyond this tuner and recorder being released for a tiny market in new zealand. a company that only has about 20 cable channels and is not HD.SO, basically, some guy in new zealand gets 20 non hd channels on his ps3.
iptv is set out to REPLACE cable companies."

Sorry Gunny, I initially thought Sony had the upper hand here until I looked in to the iptv system. It's not even close.

I don't particularly care about this kinda stuff to be honest. I don't need to record anything on the PS3, I have DVD recorders, HD recorders.

It's nice to make a console a complete media centre and soon to be a transformer, but I use it strictly for games.

Also it's pretty much irrelevant for Aussies anyway since our "high speed" internet is severely cut down by Telstra.

The only thing that really excites me about it is, if it could possibly become better than my service provider. But I doubt it happens. The cable companies suck.

Depends how good your high speed connection is and how reliable it is as well I guess.

I wouldn't hold your breath for this coming to markets anytime soon

personally, what turns me off about it was the idot corporate convention speak ... "IPTV will unlock the true potential of your TV" S**t like that always pisses me off

furthermore .... there is absolutely nothing about the 360 that makes it any more capable of something like this than the ps3
