Its very simple, I just want to see what you guys think.

Here are some quotes I got around the league:

CBS Sports - Mike Freeman Article:
    • One longtime veteran said the officiating in camp has been the worst he has seen in many years. Another veteran called the replacement refs "God awful."
    • "There is a distinct difference between the real guys and these guys," said one player. "This is not good."
    • Players say the biggest problem are the non-calls especially on passing plays. I've seen some of this myself. Receivers just get yanked down to the ground with no flag. "It's open season on wideouts," said one defensive back, laughing.
    • "Replacement refs are here again. How can you tell? Corey Webster just threw Domenik Hixonto the ground on a pass play. No flag."
    • The league is using retired officials in some cases as replacements. At one camp, there was an official who looked to be, I mean, really, really old. When he tried to run, he could barely move.
Those are some highlights from the article. Definitely got me scared.

This one though, from a more recent article put me over the edge. Apparently in the HOF Preseason Game, the ref's actually 'botched the coin toss' - you know the thing you've been doing since you could flip a coin...

I mean they can't even get that right, WOW.

To be honest I don't know how much they get and how much they want, but I do know in any officiating job, the salary to such decision makers need to be enough where a significant bribe won't effect their play-calling or ethics on the field. Now sure that's a debatable number, but that is the standard in any officiating.

The current ref's got payed way, way way too much-especially the longer they are in the league. And then get even moar when they retire. They take a pay cut, or we get nub officials. Thems the ropes.

I have not read up on the details of what they want but preseason should give us a good indication on whether scrub refs will work. I bet Goodell is waiting to see the same.

If it's like most of these kinds of things, it'll get worked out right before the regular season begins.

I have been pissed off with substandard officiating for years. There's a couple decent crews, then there's the geriatric crews. I say we build some good younger crews and move on. That said, I see no reason to create the circus atmosphere of having arena football and old retirees. Absorb some of the NCAA refs, train them, and call it done.

IDC who refs the games. The old officials sucked major balls.

According to the Tennessean the NFL is offering a deal that pays a 5 year veteran official $183,000 per year. I don't know much about US wages but that seems like A LOT for what isn't even a part time job.

Well, its not like they cannot afford it.

Pay for good officiating. The last few years has been horrible.
