    Yeah you're right. I wonder why he didn't sign a long term contract whether it be with the Pats or any other team.

    He's probably betting on himself. I'm guessing he's hoping to have a good year this year and sign his last big contract next year.

    I'm taking the long term contract when I get the chance. Not that his knee injury is a factor anymore, but I'm not taking anymore chances.

    He better not be another journeyman and become the next Nnamdi Asomugha..

    If he took a long term contract this year he might have made 7-9 mil a year. If he plays amazing this season he could get a contract with 10-12 mil a year. Going the Joe Flacco route.

    He's smart going to New England too since he'll fit well in that system.

    Yeah the guy who was elite with the Raiders, then became a journeyman and faded away :)

    If he is on the roster for the first game, all $12mm becomes guaranteed. It's why you see players get cut and then re-signed after week 1. When they do that, their salary isn't guaranteed for te year.
