Obviously. That trade up is being overlooked as the main point of the trade down.

Let's say we trade down and acquire an extra second, there's just as much chance we would take that second and 18 to trade up further to get another guy we highly coveted.

It's not about picking 10+ rookies, it's about getting your guy without losing value. Patriots will over draft people they believe in if they can't work a trade out to limit value loss.

Exactly. It's pretty rare for a team to pick in the top 5 who already have who they feel are their franchise QB and LT, hell, LT and RT. Really opens the draft up. But this is needed because the previous ****** GM blew so many top picks and defense has been ignored early that it really needs some attention.

I know other teams have FA and the draft as well, but with JR running things, I'm expecting to have a really good roster and season next year.

I honestly think all 3 of these guys will get 2nd contracts with the titans. Idt they will be "starters", but they will all be solid rotation guys (henry and johnson are already). The biggest point when talking about these 2nd round picks is, their floor is being a solid rotation guy, their ceiling is being an elite pb player.

We will see, history doesn't lend it self to your theory tho.

Henry should be the feature back at that point.
Johnson will be a starter and if he doesn't resign, he gets good FA money somewhere else.
    Dodd? Who knows?

Henry will definitely be a starter. How can anyone possibly think he would not be? He is a fantastic RB. If not for Murray, he could have been in the running for RoY.

You guys look at the Patriots draft the last few years and you will be surprised how many are not key contributors on the roster.

A HUGE part of their run the past few years were superb free agent pick ups. Look at Blout, Bennett, etc.

Hell, Edleman didn't make an impact on that team until his 5th year.

The Pats just find guys that fit, and they have enough depth that they do not mind letting people sit.

We don't have that kind of depth or talent to let people sit for that long.

Their depth is due to their draft picks... fairly numerous and good. Allows to target better in FA.

Outside of Sanchez, all pretty much successes at least before injuries. Even Blackmon had talent before his substance troubles, which I doubt would ever be problem that high in the draft with J-ROB.
