People need to get over the ATV signing. Tenn did not want him that bad. He was great in the first 4-5 games that we played zone. Later in the year, we played more man and he was very average. He knows, titans know, and the league knows that he can be great in zone coverage, but average in man. We will be playing almost all man next year, so were not going to pay him big money to play in a system he was average in. He knew he would fair better in Tampa and left. It was a good move for both sides.

Neutral. Nothing popped out to me as wow in either direction. I was more excited to drop some dead weight than the guys we actually signed.

I did not have high expectations. We filled needs and did not bury ourselves in bad contracts. Overall it has been a good fa period for a team in a transition. We can go into the draft without worrying about filling needs. We can afford to go bpa or take a project.

Whitehurst signing is the major head scratcher, I have fears about the qb and rb positions and teams that have those problems generally do not fair very well.

PK and the NFL has showed that minus the Leon Washington deal, which is around 1 million, that we have just over 10 million in cap. Lets say 9.5 currently in cap. 6-7 will be for rookies. Once CJ is gone, that's 6-8 million more. We have the flexibility to get almost anyone we want right now. But, the team knows that the players we want to sign are Jurrell Casey and Kendall Wright. The money is going to extensions for them to be here long term. There is no one on the FA market this year that was a better NT/DT than Casey. We essentially signed him, if we can get a long term deal. Same with Wright. There might have been 2-4 WR that are arguably better, but not for our team. This money will be used this year or next to sign these guys.
All this hinges on signing them this offseason or next. Just because u have money, doesn't mean you need to spend it.

I totally agree with this line of thinking. Gotta lock up our own guys. Don't want another Verner situation.
