Umm... most of the time its a response to the "Texans are worst franchise ever" type comments. Then you get the Oilers vs. Texans starting winning percentages, or the Oiler/Titans have the same amount of super bowl wins, or you have a hand me down franchise, etc,etc,etc..

Honestly.. doesn't it kinda suck that yours didnt start from scratch and have to see the Oiler/Titans listed when the tv, sportshows, message boards talk about history, etc. All bud had to do was not handcuff us from the cities football history and give yall a fresh start. Win win for both of us. But it is what it is... and you will always have to deal with the same situation in a different way.

You all know beating the Texans is a priority for Bud.... so you could expect the opposite from all of us. Again, its not complicated.

Never said they did. I know Bud owns the Oilers past. I'm just saying you may find a few who cared about the franchise before '97 but it isn't the majority of those fans who bought PSLs when they moved to Nashville. So smack about what happened before '97 is pretty worthless, IMO. Especially coming from Texans fans who still hold fond memories of those teams in Houston for their first 36 years. It's almost as if you guys are making fun of yourselves. Most of you would love to put Earl up in a Ring of Honor in Houston and continue to hold a grudge Bud took your team away.

Bill, don't kid yourself. You guys DREAM about coming up one yard short. You guys would be DELIGHTED going 13-3 next season and losing in the playoffs. If that happened and some 8-8 Lions fan came over to talk smack, would you take them seriously? I didn't think so.

That's where I'm coming from. For a fan of a done nothing franchise to make fun of a team who had the best record in the NFL is about as stupid as a dropout making fun of an honor roll student just because he didn't finish as valedictorian.

But if living in the past somehow makes you sleep a bit better at night about the mediocrity which is the Texans, more power to you.

It's not really worthless, whenever the end result is identical. See, groundhog day happens there in Nashville too. BTW, Earl is honored every year here in Houston by the Texans as are most Oilers of days gone by. We hold fond memories for the players, not the owner / organization. The players were merely employees that happened to work for Satan. We actually find it quite amusing that the likes of Earl and Bum won't have anything to do with that franchise, now.

Sure we're dreaming about our first playoff appearance. Even if that first appearance doesn't go well, we'll be happy. But to compare that experience to a franchise that has a history of collapse (even in its time in Nashville) are two separate animals. A #1 seed, that collapses at home should be an embarrasment. Back to back 8-8 seasons is nothing to be proud of I agree but I remember a certain franchise that had 3 x 8-8 seasons before making it to a super bowl.

Oh boy Jeff, 7 years is such a large body of work to make statements like "done nothing franchise" is really pretty weak. Exactly where did that "best record" take y'all? Oh that's right, your team will be watching this weekend exactly like the Texans. We didn't make fun of the valedictorian at my school, we just taped him to the goal posts. ;)

We (Texans fans) don't live in the past. We only have 7 years. The only thing we do is make fun of Dud's team, past present and future.

NFL teams in Houston suck, always have. Bud Adams was a genius to move the team to Nashville, better city, better people, and in the first year in the new stadium with the new name AND IN A NEW CITY an AFC Championship and Superbowl appearance.

    Bud Adams is genius.

Texans losers, all you got is to make fun of a team, that hardly anyone here rooted for, but that you did. It's so sad it's laughable.

    Try to comprende, amigo.

For the vast majority of Titans fans, it doesn't matter one iota what the franchise did before 1997. Nuttin'. It was YOUR team. YOUR owner. Get it? It's like marrying a divorced woman. Do you really focus a lot on her first marriage?

If your goal is to compare the quality of the two franchises, let's look at the past seven seasons for a moment...

    Rut row, Raggy.

Really? Let me get this straight. If and when the Texans make a playoffs (pipe dream) and lose, it's a proud day for you. But the Titans making the playoffs and losing is somehow an abomination? I guess if I'd spent what you have the last seven seasons to watch the Texans, I'd have that kind of warped thought process too.

Hope is a gleam a light in the vast darkness which is being a Texans fan.

You make it sound as if the length a franchise has been in existence has any bearing on this. It doesn't. The Panthers and Jags managed to see a playoff birth in just their second season. The Texans have had seven seasons to just break .500 and can't manage that. Do the math. It ain't pretty.

Soooooooo just because the Titans are at home like 28 other teams this Sunday diminishes a 13-3 season in your eyes? I'm sensing a pattern here. Much like the junior high kid who can only feel better about himself by making fun of others, you can only justify your dedication to one of the league's most pathetic excuses of a franchise with stuff like "your team will be watching this weekend exactly like the Texans".

Okay, Bill. Got me thar, pardna. But tell me this...

What makes the Texans any better than the Lions?

Nothing. Even as a dying, Northern city of industry Detroit manages to keep their team in town.
Houston, the 4th most populated city in the country couldn't support their team well enough to keep them from leaving. Now in one of the smallest markets The Titans are one of the most well supported, selling out every home game and compete annually for loudest crowd.
Foremost they remain competitive and manage cap turnarounds as quick as any team in the NFL.
Houston fans should pray that they make the playoffs before the pendulum swings back the other way. They could very easily be bunched up with The Bengals/Browns/Lions of the NFL in laughing stock futility..
