Bud Adams is too old to start over with a new head coach. He wouldn't do Fisher like he did Phillips. He knows better now. Longevity is not on Adams side.

    can you debunk that?

I remember when he fired Bum. It took this team a long time to find another Head Coach like they had in O.A. Phillips (after going through Ed Biles, Jerry Glanville, and Jack Pardee) before they finally found Jeff Fisher. I agree that Bud Adams is not willing to go through that process again.

Besides, there's no reason to make a coaching change when you've got one of the best coaches in the NFL, anyway.

Sorry, but respectfully disagree. Everyone and their mother media wise was reporting about how they didn’t expect fisher would be there again the next season. Heck, everyone in Dallas was ready to sign him as their new head coach.

The thing was that Fisher was in a contract year; his contract would have expired the following season. His last two seasons he had gone 5-11 and 4-12. He had started the 2006 season at 0-5 (and at that point his team was considered one of or possibly the worst in the league some say). This was also his 12th year he had coached there.

If the team had bottomed out; finished with 3 or 6 wins, had not been on the brink of making the playoffs, there’s no way that a coach that late in his tenure who had not won a championship could have been reasonably given an extension after 3 losing seasons like that. It would have been, at the time, crazier than the chargers firing schottenheimer for norv turner. In fact, only getting a one year extension shows that he was most likely just about to fire fisher, but after the success the team experienced from the mid to end of that season, he was willing to give him a 2nd chance for a year to see if he could carry over that success.

Say what you want about bud, his age, and his longevity, but there’s no way he gets that one year extension if he had had 3 bad losing seasons, again especially after that long of a tenure. Bud was going to cut him lose. And as for the bud’s too old thing, a guy who has little time left is more than willing to cut a guy who hasn’t gotten him what he wanted for over 10 years…

So Bud lets Floyd go.........What happens??? We start winning again! Drafting value players and signing value FA's. Bud's not stupid, he still knows talent. Fisher was staying here no matter what.

But ya, some still say Floyd was a genius.

I think overall, Floyd did a nice job, but Mike is a better GM for us. Or so it seems.
