The past two weeks have been the longest I've ever gone without being able to read every damn thread on GoTitans! I've watched games and read articles but just haven't had the time to log on and keep up with everyone.

Season is almost here and our 53 is going to be a damn good 53! TitanUp BoyS!

    My thoughts:

53 players and three of them are specialists leaving room for 50 real players.

QB (3): Mariota, Cassel and TBD: Tanny cannot go on the PS again and they need a third QB. Only way to get a third QB who is not a complete waste is to offer a real spot, not PS

RB (4): Murray, Henry, Fowler, Fluellen: Don't think my boy Muhammad has it in him

TE (4): Walker, Supernaw, Smith, TBD: I want to say 3 here but I do not see Mularky keeping 3

WR (5): Davis, Matthews, Decker, Sharpe, Taylor: I know a lot of people really want Sharpe cut. I do not see it happening though, he showed too much as a rookie.

OL (8): Lewan, Spain, Jones, Kline, Conklin, Lieto, Kelly, Levin: Any of the others can be stashed on the PS.

That leaves 26 spots for defense:

DL (6): Casey, Williams, Jones, Klug, Johnson, Blackston: Some will put Woods over Blackston however Woods is not as versatile.

OLB (5): Orakpo, Morgan, Walden, Dodd, Wallacc: A lot of depth here

ILB (5): Williamson, Woodyard, Palmer, Bates, Brown: A lot of ST here

CB (6): Ryan, Sims, McCain, Jackson, Reed, Hurst:

S (4): Byard, Cyprian, Searcy, Trawick: Hurst can also backup at S which helps

Woods started a preseason game this year and has performed very well. He'll definitely make the roster. Probably moving to PUP with a hip muscle injury.

And this is absolutely the way it should be. It should not matter in the least that it looks bad to some that he took a pay cut & did not make it. If he takes a pay cut & still does not improve; that is on the player. Once you are to the point of being asked to take a cut; you should know that you are not living up to expectation. It's time to prove you are worth the team keeping you at all. If you do not show improvement you SHOULD be gone.

In the case of Douglas; he has shown improvement. I can't deny that. He shows up in practice (According to the HC) & looked decent in the last PS game. Mularkey values his guidance for the younger guys on the team. I personally would rather see what some of the younger guys can do; rather than keep a guy who is not going to offer much beyond this season. That's just me though. I don't think Douglas will ever be a regular contributor on game days. There is a possibility that one of the younger guys COULD improve. I don't see any of them moving very high on the depth chart; but they could move into a more prominent role on ST. We know what we have in Douglas. He is older & is very unlikely to offer more than he has in the past. I'm not saying that one of the younger guys is going to take a step forward. I am saying; it is more likely than Douglas changing over the course of camp.

Some one had us keeping 3 NTs. I do not see that. Mularkey just came out publicly & said 3 at NT was too many & they would not keep 3. Not sure who will be the odd man out; but it's hard to think they would cut Williams after just paying him decent money in FA. The other two have looked better though, so you never know.

Definitely possible...depends on who the others cut. But at the moment (could change after the Bears game), Wallace may be the extra LB who can play OLB and ILB and play well on STs. Right now Fluellen would be the fav to get the 3rd rb spot...but he and a bunch of 3's, 4's, and 5's are always in danger of getting cut for us to sign someone from another team. JRob tends to be fairly active in that department.

Tre McBride better make the roster over Weems.

And f Dudd. I hope he's replaced with a real 3-4 OLB that produces.
