The publicity value is huge though. My guess is this isn't about raising money as much as 1) raising awareness, and 2) a degree of political pressure - and I say political pressure, because they wear nothing for prostate cancer awareness which likely impacts their male viewership considerably more.
Although I have not given any money to the big pink money machine.. I do check for lumps on all your mom's boobs while I massage them in yoga class
The charity is going to be okay with it because that is money they would not have otherwise. It is how many charity drives work. There are marketing companies that make a profit raising money for charity. And that is their only business Typically they are the ones who use telemarketing or hot girls on busy street corners to hustle people. The charities go for it because it is free money. They do not have to do anything except accept the money the marketing company raises for them. Typically they get 8-12% in these arrangements.
8-12% of a huge pot is a nice contribution
BTW, if anyone has given money to the "Rhode Island Vietnam Vets" over the phone that is being run by a sketchy telemarketing place near me (in Canada). Staffed mostly by drug addicted street people in their late teens and early 20s.
Probably slightly more then they made in any other month. You act like the NFL is having trouble moving non- pink merchandise.
