Going by memory here... Bud let the coodinator's contract expire. In the process of getting a new deal in place, he was offered a boatload to go to the Jets. With the eventual cap purge ahead and the chance to shorten the road to a HC job in a big market, he took the job. But I seem to also remember that Fisher was never asked by Edwards to talk to Chow though technically, Dinger wasn't under contract. But stuff like that tends to turn Fisher sour. He'll loyal to his staff to a fault (which makes the Chow firing a little strange). He expects the same in return. He pretty much let Steckel go just for talking to the Bucs about the OC job. I don't know if Fisher would target Dinger or if Dinger would be willing to make a lateral move. He and McNair didn't mix well even if it was his best season (the MVP year). I don't know how Young would relate to Dinger but I bet he makes a call to "Pops" to get the lowdown.
