Unranked losses have more impact than losing to #1, in case you hadn't heard.
So do losses after a 40 day layoff to #2.
The 40 day loayoff doesn't hurt everyone but it's hurt a lot of teams. I've had Florida fans tell me that they knew OSU didn't play their best and that's obvious to anyone who saw the game. LSU proved it last night. Oklahoma showed it against USC and heck even Clemson this year.
OK-so the premise is that ~40 days off has a bad effect on the #1 team. But a ~44 day period in between teams makes the number 2 team play better.
How about the #1 Defense in the nation that broke records simply just shut down LSU's offense?
Now I ask you, which of those two statements is more logical?
Just swallow the turd Deuce.
That #1 defense played a cake schedule all year... I'd take it for what it's worth.
And why is it hard to just look at the game and realize LSU was a totally different team? The layoff is probably going to help the team that lost in the previous game more than the one that won.
Shutting down Jordan Jefferson is all they had to do... and MTSU Blue Raiders would have shut him down.
Your defense argument might hold weight if we didn't see the LSU QB fail to hit wide open targets over and over again.
^^ It's called pressure on the QB and the number one D had Jefferson dumbfounded.
I understand people have had enough of the SEC and Alabama- I get the frustration. But there really are no logical arguments to support the notion that OSU deserved to be there over Alabama or that somehow the delay unfairly effected LSU more than Bama.
About the only thing that can be said about it that is fair is that LSU had to play one more game to get there which IS unfair in regards to injury risk but that didn't have an effect. The bottom line is that Bama was better prepared in the amount of time they had than LSU. Does a week make a difference in preparation? Possible, but I highly doubt it.
Les Miles sounded like he had been hit in the head by a shovel in the post game. He had no answers for adjustments. Nick Saban is a far superior college to Les Miles IMHO. I believe "the rematch" reflected that.
I think not playing for over a month is bad for anyone involved.
Oh give me a break with the "Alabama Defense had him dumbfounded" nonsense. The guy just plainly sucks.
He was like that from the first snap of the game. Wasn't anything Alabama did.
And I'm pretty sure Les Miles had money on Alabama.
The intensity Bama showed on the opening kickoff would have been enough to scare most teams.
